HINAITI, a Polynesian name meaning little Hina
Hinaiti means "Little Hina", named after the Polynesian goddess of the moon and fertility. Legend has it that Hina, famous for her dazzlingly beautiful hair, gave birth to the first coconut tree.
Hina was fleeing a forced marriage when the god Hiro was dazzled by the light of her sun-kissed hair. He protected her and killed the eel prince who was pursuing her. But the eel's head, before dying, prophesied:
"One day, all men will kiss me on the mouth to thank me."
When Hina inadvertently placed the head on the ground, the first coconut tree sprang up. During a great drought, men discovered that each coconut bore three marks like eyes and a mouth. To drink its water, they had to press their lips against this face.
The prophecy had come true.
The founder: a passion born in Tahiti
Janick Ducret, a native of Tahiti, grew up surrounded by women with luxurious hair, symbols of a deep connection with Polynesian nature. With 10 years of experience in beauty marketing, she partnered with her husband Hervé Ducret, a hair expert who worked for 12 years with major groups and managed international premium brands in France (Alterna Haircare, Beauty Blender).
